When Minorities in STEM was first set up, one of the main things requested by members was an informal networking session.

On August 30th, the first Minorities in STEM event took place at the Wellcome Trust. A sold-out event (and even more on the waitlist for spare tickets), we sat down to discuss ethnic diversity in STEM.

We had a panel of wonderful speakers, including Hana Ayoob (Cheltenham Science Festival), Tiv Balendra (BAE Systems), Oz Ismail (UCL), Yolanda Ohene (UCL) and Imran Khan (Wellcome Trust).

They discussed everything from academia and education to industry, public engagement and events. Delegates then broke off into various groups, each discussing one of the different topics.

You can find out more in this write-up from The British Blacklist.

Thank you to Wellcome Trust for hosting us, the speakers and the delegates for some amazing and insightful thoughts.
